Shanna Swendson: Fairy Tales for Modern Times

The diner where Katie and Owen go to dinner after work. I hadn't actually eaten there before I wrote that scene, but I had a burger there on a later trip and it was wonderful. The place in the book is more of a fictional version of a place like this and does have some differences, but this is the basis for it.

Owen's house is on a street like this one, with rows of townhomes. It's a quiet side street off Irving Place.

This was the model for Owen's house, mostly because (as you can see from the Realtor's sign) it was for sale. That meant I was able to go on the Realtor's web site and take a virtual tour to see the interior. I mostly used that to get a feel for what a house like that would be like, then made up my own floor plan and interior for the book.
